Her Uncle has taken the throne and has raised taxes substantially to pay for his army, which he plans to use to conquer nearby kingdoms while hunting for the legendary Dragons’ Nest, bringing Rose’s people to poverty. Rose steals from the rich for the poor as “The Cardinal” instead of proving her innocence as Princess to protect a secret that may save her or cost her her life.

I started writing this story, Not Your Average Tail, when I was in college. I am currently rewriting it. It is about a mermaid ostracized by her kind due to her birth marks and all she wants is to be accepted. That’s when she goes out and finds a new home on land, where mermaids are forbidden. She must keep her identity as a mermaid secret, but can you truly be yourself with the one you love while hiding your identity?
